1824, Letter from Batavia 16 Jan. 1817 to Tagal and redirected to "Paccalongan or Samarang". With superb strike of the “JAVA GENERAL POST OFFICE/BA-/TAVIA/DOL-/LORS/STY-/VERS" double-circle handstamp (WdB 13), and circular markings of Tagal (WdB 23) and Joana (WdB 20). All postmarks in red and clear strikes, on letter with some toning spots sent to Captain Barkley on the ship Henry. "Post Paid" written on front and 10 stuivers entered into the postmark for the distance Batavia-Tagal. Some light browning to envelope but otherwise very fine. An important and unique usage with three clearly struck postmarks used at the very end of the British Administration of Java.
