1822, complete folded letter datelined Salatiga 25 June 1822, sent to Boutet in Djokjokarta. Struck by circular red "AFDG/SALA/TIGA" with peculiar lettering. Endorsed "Gefrankeerd st. 4". The circular marking of the "afdeeling" or division of Salatiga is somewhat similar in type to Wolff de Beer's types 16-23, but is not catalogued in his volume. The overview of Mayer forgeries published in Nederlandsch Maandblad door Philatelie May 1967, pp. 250-265 does not include this type. Some minor internal reinforcement of the corners but an absolutely superb and uncreased letter with complete content preserved. With certificate BPA (2015) which notes "handstamp genuine, pinholes within handstamp."
