1851, 6 Kr blue-green with touched margins on three sides and a very wide margin at left showing the complete neighbour, tied by numeral ”43” with red boxed ”FREIBURG 1 MAI 1851” d.s alongside used on the first day of usage on entire letter dated ”29 April 1851” sent to Gondelsheim bei Bretten, with ”BRETTEN 2 MAI 1851” backstamp. The franking was cancelled a second time at arrival with the numeral ”18”, this showing how careful the postmaster of Bretten was on the second day of the introduction of stamps to apply correctly the postal regulations regarding their cancellation. Only two first day covers are known with the 6Kr. of the first issue of Baden. A major rarity of this area. Certificate Stegmüller BPP (2025)
