1866 (14 Jan) Envelope bearing 1866 1 Piastre claret tied by "POSTE VICE REALI EGIZIANE CAIRO 12 GEN 66" cds carried to Alexandria and there uprated with Italy 1863 60 Centesimi violet, tied by "ALESSANDRIA D' EGITTO POSTE ITALIANE 14 GEN 66" cds addressed to Livorno with arrival on reverse (23.1.66), few tone spots, fine and very scarce combination franking with first issue of Egypt used on the 12th day of issue, the second earliest mixed franking with Italian stamps (the earliest is dated Jan 9 1866 from Suez, see Zanaria p. 260) and this cover is the earliest one sent from Cairo (illustrated in Zanaria p. 243); cert.
