1861 PATRIOTIC COVER "Our compromise. The Federal Union - It must and shall be preserved" (Flag and Canon) franked by 1860 30c orange (very fine and of strong colour) tied by blue "TOLEDO O. MAY 14" (Ohio) cds sent to Stuttgart, Württemberg, Germany per Prussian Closed Mail via Liverpool and Aachen. Extremely fine and fresh. The 30c of the 1857-1861 issue is very rare on patriotic cover as this issue was demonetized due to the Civil War soon after this cover was mailed. (Scott 38 on patriotic cover = 9000 USD. Philatelic Foundation certificate (2017).
