1859 10 Gr., three singles of the deep blue shade (azzurro cupo), together with 1 Gr. Plate II and 2 Gr. Plate III, on entire 29 Aug 1859 from Messina to Turin, endorsed "via Genova" and struck with the red three-line Piroscafi / Postali / Francesi handstamp. The central 10 Gr. shows the position 1 retouch (horizontal lines above "POSTA"). Transit and arrival backstamps on reverse. The 1 Gr. has a touched margin at top, otherwise the stamps have good to clear margins.
An exceptionally important multiple three colour franking, featuring the scarce position 1 retouch and the rare Piroscafi Postali Francesi maritime marking. An unrecorded franking of major postal history significance and outstanding exhibition appeal.
