1859 5 Gr. Plate I and Plate II, vermilion (vermiglio), three-stamp franking on cover dated 28 May 1860 to Civitavecchia, the right-hand stamp from Plate I and the other two from Plate II. Endorsed "Vapore Francese", with Messina despatch cds and three-line cursive maritime arrival handstamp below the adhesives, reverse with arrival cds.
A remarkable and very rare three-times 5 Grana franking, combining stamps from two different plates on the same cover. An outstanding exhibition piece of great rarity and postal-historical importance.
