1859 2 Gr. Plate I, dark cobalt (cobalto scuro), exceptional horizontal strip of ten, positions 51–60, with good margins all round. Showing the listed retouches in positions 51, 55 and 57. The strip was separated in two places and has been expertly rejoined, preserving its impressive appearance and integrity.
A rare and important multiple of great significance for the study of the Plate I retouches, combining outstanding size, visual appeal and specialist interest. Despite the repairs, a fine exhibition-quality piece and one of the largest surviving used multiples of this shade.
