1841 1d Red-Brown, Plate 23 (FJ–HL). An irregular marginal block of eight (FJ–HL), mint with almost full original gum, four stamps unmounted. Good to large margins all round. A vertical fold in the margin between the left pair and the block of six.

The marginal inscription reads: “1d per label. 1s/- per row of 12. £1… per sheet”. The multiple clearly shows the characteristic north-east breaks and weak lower left framelines associated with this plate.

An exceptional and highly desirable multiple from this very difficult plate, of outstanding quality and importance.
