1840 1d black pl.6 HL on cover front (with small part of backflap), four margins, tied red Maltese Cross in a dark purplish shade. A pencil notation states "Dalkeith crimson cross" which appears to be borne out by the Dalkeith JY 21 1840 departure ds on the back flap. A fine and attractive item for the MC student and sold "as is".
