1840 1d Black, Plate 2 (HJ–KL) Exceptional Block of Twelve — Used, Red Maltese Crosses
An impressive and very rare multiple, this block of twelve is cancelled by red Maltese Crosses and retains clear to good margins (just touched in two places). Notable plate varieties are present: HL shows re-entry (S.G. Spec. AS14a), while KJ–KK display the “NE” of “ONE” nearly joined (S.G. Spec. AS14e). The block bears minor faults, including a small closed tear on KJ and a light crease across JJ–JL, noted for accuracy.
A highly significant piece for the advanced collector, combining rarity, multiples of great size, and philatelic interest.
