Soerakarta. 1870, 10 cent brown on envelope from Soerakarta to Samarang; perfect stamp tied by well-struck Soerakarta half-round franco postmark 24.12 1872 with an additional strike on the front and manuscript “franco”. Samarang 24.12 arrival on reverse. A most appealing and tidy envelope with a tear at top edge and superb postmarks. A domestic 10 cent rate; no more than five letters recorded from Soerakarta with the third issue.
