Samarang. 1870, 10 cent brown on Chinese envelope from Samarang to Tagal; stamp in very fine condition tied by well-struck Samarang half-round franco postmark 12.8 1871 with an additional strike on the front and manuscript “franco”. Appealing complete Chinese wrapper with four red chops struck on front and a red band around. Tagal arrival 13.8 on back. Minimal damage to front probably from insects. A most decorative entire letter from the Chinese community in the north part of central Java; ideal for display.
