Batavia. 1870, 10 cent brown and 50 cent red on attractive little envelope sent to Deventer, Netherlands; stamps tied to cover by lightly struck Batavia half-round franco cancel 2.1 1873 type V with an additional strike on the front and manuscript “franco”. Also a framed routing mark “NED-INDIE VIA MARSEILLE FRANSCHE PAKKETB.” Deventer arrival 7.2 1873 on back. A very attractive envelope with stamps in flawless condition; a rare pre-UPU letter paying the 60 cent rate to the Netherlands that was valid Jan. 1870-May 1876.
