Makassar. 1868, 10 cent red with a central and clear strike of the Makassar circular postmark 12.6 1870 in red. A superb cancel with the year and date fully legible on a stamp in excellent condition. As this was a postmark usually struck lightly in red on a red stamp, most examples show no legible date and year; this example is exceptional for the clarity of the strike. A rare postmark, less than ten examples known.
