Sambas. 1864, 10 cent red, with ample margins on all sides and slightly into top left barely touching the frameline. A well-centered Sambas postmark 9.4 1870 (?) struck upside-down. Bulterman Poststempels uncatalogued, Voerman RRR Great Rarity. A superb Sambas postmark on the first issue stamp sold with van Dieten in April 2026 for 2800 eur. hammerprice.
THE RAREST OF THE HALF-ROUND FRANCO POSTMARKS, WITH 3-4 RECORDED FROM THE SMALL SAMBAS OFFICE LOCATED NORTH OF SINGKAWANG ON THE WEST COAST OF BORNEO. THIS IS THE CROWN JEWEL OF THE POPULAR HALF-ROUND FRANCO CANCELLATIONS OF THE NETHERLANDS INDIES.
