Passoeroean. 1864, 10 cent red on envelope from Passoeroean to Batavia. Stamp with wide, even margins on all sides, perfectly tied by centered strike of the half-round franco cancel 5.10 1866 with an additional strike on the cover; on the back is a red circular Batavia arrival 9.10 1868. A fine envelope sent to the “Marine Magazijnmeester” in Batavia, with the name crossed out (as usual for this correspondence). The letter travelled almost the entire length of the Great Post Road from Passoeroean in East Java to Batavia in the west, a distance of about 850 km.
