Pamakassan. 1864, 10 cent red on folded letter from Pamakassan to Soerabaya. Stamp with wide margins on all sides, perfectly tied by centered Pamakassan half-round franco cancel 25.10 1868 with an additional strike on the letter; on back is Soerabaija arrival 26.10 1866. Complete folded letter with full content sent to the merchant van Delden in Surabaya, some weakness to paper and internal splitting.
A STUNNING AND IMMACULATE LETTER AND PROBABLY THE ONLY RECORDED WITH THE HALF-ROUND FRANCO POSTMARK FROM THE OFFICE ON MADURA ISLAND. SURELY ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE LETTERS BEARING THE FIRST ISSUE STAMP AND A TOP EXHIBITION ITEM.
