Muntok. 1864, 10 cent red on folded letter from Muntok to Batavia. Stamp with huge margins on three sides and slightly cut into on the left, perfectly tied by half-round franco cancel 29.4 1867 with an additional strike on the cover; on back is Batavia arrival 3.5 1867. A complete folded letter without content, sent to the merchant Olislaeger in the area of the Harmonie Society in the Rijswijk district of Batavia. An attractive complete letter sheet with well-struck postmarks.
PROBABLY THE ONLY SURVIVING LETTER FROM THE MUNTOK OFFICE ON BANKA ISLAND EAST OF SUMATRA. FEATURING TWO EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAR STRIKES OF THE HALF-ROUND FRANCO POSTMARK. A TOP EXHIBITION ITEM.
