Batavia. 1864, 10 cent red block of six with full to huge margins and parts of adjoining stamps to left. Cancelled by six centrally placed strikes of Batavia half-round franco 18.11 1866 type VI. Excellent condition; bottom right stamp has a minimal nick at base. Each stamp with signature Pfenninger (including the stamp with a nick at base).
ONE OF THE MAJOR MULTIPLES OF THE 10 CENT 1864 AND A UNIT OF STRIKING VISUAL APPEAL WITH EACH STAMP BOLDLY STRUCK BY THE BATAVIA POSTMARK. A UNIQUE MULTIPLE AND AN EXHIBITION ITEM OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.
