1864, 10 cent red on letter from Buitenzorg 24.7 1864. Stamp with full margins, cut close on right and lower left, tied to envelope by well-struck black framed FRANCO applied diagonally alongside red Batavia circular datestamp. Letter sent to Officer Otto Kuphal with the Artillery Company of Weltevreden Barracks. Stamp placed top left with manuscript “Franco” written below. Batavia arrival mark 25.7 on back. Envelope with some browning and paper splits, and light ink corrosion to address, but otherwise very fine and appealing.
