1864, 10 cent plate proof block of four, pale wine red type 4a, on very thin paper, imperforate and without gum as produced. An exceptional proof block with very large margins and complete bottom right corner margin; pos. 89-90, 99-100. J.L. van Dieten Proeven Catalogus (1988), type 4a. A very fine corner block on lightly browned paper and in a very pale, low-intensity red; a vertical fold in the right margin away from stamps with some paper splitting at foot, and a few other very minor faults that do not detract from the impressive visual appeal of this corner block with extravagant margins.
