1847, "Franco Zee Brief Grissee" large oval postmark in red on large part folded letter, with docketing inside "Babat 19 June 1847, received 27 Sep." sent to Amsterdam and routed by overland mail via Marseille. On front is also Purifié Lazaret Malte and on back is Alexandria 12.9, Paris 26.9 and Amsterdam arrival 27.9 18447. Charge of 150 duties noted on reverse. Wrapper without content, recipient's name is effaced but a sublime strike of the only known Grissee Zee Brief postmark.
THE UNIQUE LETTER WITH AN EXCELLENT STRIKE OF THE GRISSEE ZEE BRIEF POSTMARK THAT IS UNRECORDED IN THE LITERATURE. A MAJOR RARITY OF THE NEI PRE-STAMP POSTAL HISTORY.
