1896 (10.3) Registered envelope from Larnaca to George Frederick Jackson in Warwickshire, franked 1882-86 CA Die I 6pi olive-grey, vertical pair plate No.2 marginal, 1892 CA Die II 4pi pair and the very scarce 12pi orange brown pair (SG £900 as singles), all tied squared circle LARNACA B/MR.10.96/CYPRUS, with oval REGISTERED/CYPRUS ds alongside, very fine and extremely rare usage of the 12pi orange brown Die II.

Note: George Frederick Jackson (1860–1938) was a British Arctic explorer who led the Jackson–Harmsworth Expedition to Franz Josef Land (1894–1897). His surveys greatly improved knowledge of the archipelago, and he famously rescued Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen in 1896. Jackson's scientific achievements secured his place among Britain's foremost polar explorers.
