1880 (27 Apr.) Cover addressed to S.R. French, Junior Carlton Club, Pall Mall S.W., London, franked with Great Britain ½d, plate 15, and 1d red, plate 205 (pair), each cancelled by numeral "969", with superb NICOSIA/CYPRUS CDS alongside; backstamped at Larnaca and London. The addressee, Somerset French, was Cyprus’s first Postmaster, serving from July 1878 to August 1879, and later became Head Postmaster of South Africa. A very scarce franking to make up the 2½d letter rate, especially from Nicosia.
