Gupta Empire, Chandragupta I, c. 319-335, AV dinar, 7.69 g. (21 mm). Obverse: King-and-Queen type; king standing at right with halo, queen at left, facing each other, king holding up right hand, Brahmi legend at left srikumaradevih, Brahmi legend right Chandragupta. Reverse: goddess enthroned facing, seated on lion facing left, holding diadem and cornucopia, tamgha to left, Brahmi inscription at right, dotted border around. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, variety II, B, 1. Raven, SG/group 4. A very rare variety that shows the king and queen as youthful figures.
VF+, struck from worn dies, with some flattening to high points on both sides, large part of legible inscriptions, some light filing to the edge at position 10 o'clock.
