Persia, Achaemenid Empire, Darius I-Xerxes II, c. 5th century BC. AV daric 8.37 g. (north-south 16mm, east-west 15mm), Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes mint, ca. 485-420 BC. Obverse: Persian king or hero, wearing cidaris and candys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling or running stance right, spear in right hand, bow forward in left. Reverse: single irregular oblong depression.
EF as struck, well-centered strike and bright, lustrous surfaces with an attractive patina.
