Vijayanagara Empire, Tuluva Dynasty, Achyutaraya (15th Century), Gold half Varaha, 1.70 g. (11 mm). Obverse: an ornamented Gandaberunda, or a double-headed eagle moving to left, its wings and feathers are bejeweled, in each of its two beaks and two claws are fully grown tusker elephants. Reverse: Nagari legend in three lines Shri Pra/tapachyuta/raya with interlinear rulers.
AU, lustrous and very well struck, very sharp definition of the birds, deep relief.
