Post Gupta, Bengal, Samatata region, imitative of Gupta coins, c. 575-625, AV dinar, 6.15 g. (21 mm). Obverse: representation of the archer type, king standing left, with halo, holding bow in left hand and arrow in right, pseudo-Brahmi characters to right, standard with Garuda in right field. Reverse: stylized female or goddess standing right, crude unread legend in left field, dotted border around. EF, well struck with strong details, even lustre across the coin on both sides.A very rare type that features the Garuda to the side of the king, probably to assert his proximity or lineage with the Gupta rulers.Ex Chand Collection 9.7.03
