Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.72 g. (19 mm). Obverse: ‘lion slayer’ type; king standing right, wielding sword at lion to right, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: Lakshmi, facing, sitting on couchant lion with head raised, holding long-stemmed lotus flower in her left hand, and diadem in right, with tamgha to left and Brahmi legend to right, Simhavikrama. Kumar TOTGE 2024, Class II. VF as struck, good surfaces and attractive appearance.The extremely rare ‘king as swordsman’ type.
