Man'en gold Oban (10 Ryo), (1860-1862), Edo or Kyoto mint. 112.6 g. (80 x 135 mm). With machine-made horizontal crenulations and multiple crisp stamps on front and back. An astounding example of Japan's final issue of likely the most iconic monetary denomination of the pre-Meiji era. This piece presents a near-immaculate ink-mark, with only light areas of flaking as to be expected for the type and light scratches on the front.
