Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 6.91g. (21 mm). Obverse: Javelin type; king wearing royal tunic and earring, standing, holding javelin with spearhead pointed down and sacrificing at altar, with very clear Garuda standard in left field, Brahmi Samudra below his left arm, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: nimbate goddess Lakshmi enthroned, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi inscription at right, parakramah, tamgha left, dotted border around. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class II
F-VF, with a flan crack at 11 o’clock position with some edge filing, and a cut on reverse 9 o’clock with an equivalent on the obverse, minor scratches to head of goddess; well struck especially on obverse with a large portion of legends readable.
