Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 7.64 g. (20 mm). Obverse: Javelin type; king with halo wearing royal tunic, standing with dotted platform beneath feet, holding javelin with spearhead pointed down and sacrificing at altar, with Garuda standard in left field, Brahmi Samudra below his left arm, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: goddess Lakshmi with halo enthroned with feet on lotus, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi inscription at right, parakramah, tamgha left, dotted border around.
VF, with some weakness of strike and lack of definition to figure on both sides, with excellent centring and good, legible inscription on obverse, small dig in king's left arm.
