Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 7.43 g. (20 mm). Obverse: Javelin type; king wearing royal tunic and large earring, standing, holding javelin with spearhead pointed down and sacrificing at altar, with Garuda standard in left field, Brahmi Samudra below his left arm, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: goddess Lakshmi with halo enthroned on lotus, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi inscription at right, parakramah, tamgha left, dotted border around.
VF, flattening to high points of relief, some very light polishing to edge at about 9 o'clock point, reverse struck slightly off-centre.
